Support and Training for Childcare Providers
Support for Childminders
Do you want to work with children?
Stockport needs new childminders, playworkers and childcare staff to work in day nurseries, pre-schools, creches and out of school clubs.
For information on training and what qualifications are required for working with children the following contacts may be useful:
Learners under 25 years – Liz Ladley 0161 474 3492
Early Years over 25 years – Di Babbage 07891 949358
Playworkers over 25 years – Glenis Eastwood 07800 617945
To become a registered childminder you need to go on a short course. The course consists of two information sessions followed by one evening sesion a week over the next ten weeks and two Saturdays (First Aid Training). There is no exam for this course but you will be expected to produce a portfolio to complete the course. Only one session can be missed, however, this does not include either of the information sessions or the Saturdays as these must be attended in order to complete the course. PACEY Local Stockport was set up for Childminders, Nannies and Early Years Workers to provide peer to peer support and to identify needs in the Local Authority. They are a not-for-profit, friendly group aiming to help everyone working with children in their early years. As you are probably aware the Local Authority have ceased to deliver and fund training from September 2013, and this is where PACEY Local Stockport can help you and your business.
At present they are undertaking the delivery of training throughout Stockport and as an organisation you maybe interested in some of their forth coming events:
