Stockport Single Parents Reach

We have recently been awarded a £20,000 grant over two years by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales. The grant will be used to support Stockport single parents returning to work.

The charity has developed a new project which will offer pre-employment workshops for Stockport single parents from low income families whose youngest child is under five years. The free workshops will offer practical help and support with finding childcare and employment.

Laura McDonald Project Coordinator will deliver the workshops in partnership with specialist trainers from other Stockport services. The Foundation is one of the few community grant makers to fund core costs that allow charities to continue to deliver their services.

Fiona Clear, Manager of Family Link Stockport said

“The grant from the Foundation will allow us to work with partners to develop this exciting project which we hope will help around 80 single parents to prepare for employment. Our aim is to offer high quality, informative, friendly and professional workshops which deliver practical help. Topics to be covered include finding childcare, job search, family finances, and employment rights. We are very grateful to Lloyds TSB for giving us the opportunity to run this project”.

The first workshop begins on Thursday 28th February.
